Sep 08, 2009 · I finished downloading a file in utorrent, it says 'Done : 100.0%' but the status remains 'seeding' since like YESTERDAY. I dont know if the file's broken or what. I dont wanna delete it cause its 584 MB and Ive been downloading it for hours and all for nothing. So what does seeding mean?

In file sharing, super-seeding (aka 'Initial Seeding') is an algorithm developed by John Hoffman for the BitTorrent communications protocol that helps downloaders become uploaders more quickly, but it introduces the danger of total seeding failure if there is only one downloader. It says "seeding" but the bar is red instead of green. I'm just assuming that this is a bad thing haha. As long as they are still seeding then it's no big deal I guess. edit: I just looked a little further and the status on them is either "not allowed" or "timed out" most are "not allowed" uTorrent 3.3.1 on Windows 8. I have some torrents that I requested that say "Seeds 0(3)" and are downloading. Others say "Seeds 0(6)" and are not downloading. Can someone explain why one torrent is downloading and the other isn't? Are the seeds out there but the people are not running their torrent client?
Hello, I recently added a 3tb drive dedicated to seeding. To seed forever, do I just set my seeding limit to some ridiculously high value (its currently 150). Say something like 999. If a torrent hits the seeding limit, does that mean it will no longer seed at all and people cant grab the torrent

You can also force the upload to be as low as possible so you will be just a leecher (this is frowned upon). Go back into Preferences and click Bandwidth .
